During this 10-week-course the participant will first
be introduced to the history of the built surroundings
in general (in relation to the social developments)
and that of Curaçao in particular. In a coherent
series of lectures special attention is paid to the
different architectural styles through the ages. These
lectures are given by several speakers who have earned
their stripes in this field. Thus you will come across
familiar names such as for instance Michael
Newton and Gerda Gehlen. Also the new generation of
architects, represented by Lyongo Juliana and Sofia Saavedra Bruno, contributes
to the course by introducing the participant to his
fresh eye on this subject.
The course will be given on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. at the UoC (walk-in from 4.30 p.m.). The course is taught at bachelor’s level and the language of conduct is Dutch.
